#FILMS + #EVENTS: Pariah Full-length Screening in Toronto

Think back to June of 2009, you there yet?!  No!  No worries … I’ll help.

Remember a post I shared being all excited that @blaktivist had had a huge revelation about identity because she’d watched Pariah?  No? You say that post never existed.  No worries … her post did: CLICK HERE TO READ IT.

Well … after 2 years of hard work … and TONS of COMMUNITY SUPPORT … there’s been some full-length screenings!  How do I know?  Well, of course THE ARDOR BRAND told me.  And now, I share with you!

We shared earlier that Ardor Brand client, Krys Freeman, received a special invite to the full length screening of Pariah. We later found out that Krys had the incredible privilege of being included in the film credits.

The film chronicles the story of a “Brooklyn teenager who juggles conflicting identities and risks friendship, heartbreak, and family in a desperate search for sexual expression.”

San Francisco was not the only place the film debuted on Monday, September 12, 2011.  The film was also debuted as a part of the Toronto International Film Festival.

XTRA, Canada’s Gay & Lesbian news, described Pariah’s inclusion in the festival saying,

One of the most anticipated queer films at the Toronto International Film Festival is playing to sold-out audiences and getting rave reviews, with some calling it the next Precious. Titled Pariah, it’s the feature film debut for director Dee Rees and has the backing of heavyweight Spike Lee, who is executive producer.

The film packs a surprising emotional punch in the over-crowded field of coming-out stories.  (CLICK HERE FOR FULL STORY AND BEHIND THE SCENES INTERVIEWS w/PARIAH DIRECTOR)
